I am so glad they finally opened a branch in my neck of the woods. I fell in love with their hot sandwiches many years ago, when I had my first taste of Earl Of Sandwich at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Everything at Earl of Sandwich is hand-crafted and made fresh daily. A standout for me is the artisan bread; quality bread is the foundation of any top-notch sandwich, and EOS has found the perfect recipe. The bread is sent through a special oven, baked to perfection, and served hot. I was excited to learn that they also serve breakfast and dinner items; I sincerely have my eyes on the pizza bread and baked potatoes. My favorite here will probably always be the Tuna Melt, which sounds lame but it is oh-so-good. I can also vouch for the Earl's Club. This particular site is super clean, modern looking, and offers some outdoor seating.

Unfortunately, Earl of Sandwich lived up to it's current 2.5 stars on Yelp. I knew that EOS had bad Yelp reviews. I had already read them and had low expectations walking in, but I was still willing to give Earl of Sandwich a chance Earl of Sandwich was a fail from the moment I walked in. It has a "corporate pre-packaged" vibe to the atmosphere and decor. That wasn't really an issue though. What immediately gave me pause was the menu....or lack there of. They have menu boards that basically tell you NOTHING about the food. Okay, there ware sandwiches with names. No size. No description or ingredients. How am I supposed to know what the Original 1762 is? There were only three sandwiches pictured on the menu. It didn't help that the girl behind the counter was rushing us. Did I mention we were the ONLY people in there at the time? I went with one of the three pictured sandwiches since I *sort of* knew what was on it: Chipotle Chicken Avocado. My Husband was brave and went with the Earl's Club. We weren't sure if they came with anything, so we ordered a $4 Mac n'cheese to split (once again with no clue of how big it was). As an afterthought the cashier asked us if we wanted to make it a meal with chips and soda. Sure. We need drinks anyhow. It took a LONG time for our sandwiches and mac to arrive. We both made bathroom trips, drained our first drinks and devoured all (the Hubby) or most (Me) of our chips before our unnecessary coaster vibrated to tell us our food was ready. Why on earth do they use coasters?? There were literally 10 employees behind the counter five feet from us and we were the only people there. Even if the place was packed, it would be unnecessary in this environment. Anyways, my Husband's club was AWFUL. Bland and disappointing for the $6.49 price. My Chipotle Chicken Avocado was a little better mainly because it had a tasty chipotle sauce on it. It still was on the smaller side and lacked much other flavoring. The lettuce was WAY bigger than the bread. The bacon was seriously lacking. The chicken was chopped up pre-cooked pieces that weren't very appealing and fell off all over the place. The mac n'cheese was okay. Not the best I have had, but not the worst. It did have the cheese slightly browned on top which was nice. Overall, not very happy. Hubby says he will never come back. I am apparently a glutton for torture and would be curious to try their baked potatoes (only served for dinner) and salads.

This place is very clean and the staff very friendly. I read some of the other yelper reviews and was shocked to see such a low score. If you were expecting a good hole in the wall family owned, one location type Restaurant then this is not for you. Yes they are a chain, yes many of their items are prepackaged, i mean what do you expect. As far as giving the order pagers when your the only one here that is simply their procedure. Some of my fellow yelpers disappoint me so. This location is clean, had fast service, the food was good and on par with expectations. Compared to Panera which is a similar business i think they are just as good here. The prices are a bit high here, that is my only complaint.

4 stars for service/atmosphere 2 stars for food 1st visit - free birthday sandwich, wrap, or salad brought me in - thank you! Very friendly staff and a clean/bright restaurant. Ordered a Full Montagu - was surprised by how small the sandwich was (6 inch maybe?) for the price ($6-something) and really nothing special about it. With so many fast casual sandwich restaurants in the market, no need to revisit.

This is my first time coming here, and it was a pretty good experience. My girlfriend also enjoyed it as well. This is a comfortable and trendy sammy shop, with tons of seating. I would've given this place 5 stars but the only thing that stopped me, was the cashier. The cashier is the first person you talk to when ordering and coming in, and she wasn't very nice or welcoming. I like that you can see the employees making your food. The cooks seemed to be happy and ready to work. We ordered the chipotle avocado chicken and the Italian. Both on wheat bread; these were fantastic. Full of flavor! The meat is awesome and the bread is a toasty surprise. I was happy to observe that the lobby is clean and so are the work stations. I will absolutely be returning and telling friends!

It's my second time here since the place opened up. My first experience here was pretty bad and I wanted to give it a second chance before posting a review. Second time around it was a little better. They don't seem to be screwing up people's orders and the food was made quite quickly this time. The ventilation is still an issue. Walked in and the smokiness hits you. Was hoping they'd have this fixed by now. The sandwiches are good. Not great but decent. I'd take it over Subway or Firehouse Subs which are also in the area. For $9.08 I got a sandwich and regular drink. The sandwiches are pretty small for the price though. I'd probably rethink coming back a third time because personally I feel like I can get a better experience, portion and food for the price.

The good clean atmosphere interesting theme The bad small portions weird service model (they gave us a flashing coaster, but we were the only patrons) slightly pricy not a great value The average the sandwiches were ok

I think it's pretty good! Need to try more of the sandwiches but so far I like The Original and the Hawaiin BBQ. Their potatoes are pretty good too and big, I got the loaded one and was pretty happy and their vanilla cupcake is delicious! The Original roast beef sandwich can be a little dry at times though but other than that I was happy. edit: omg their caprese sandwich is heaven! try it if you like caprese :)

This is probably more of a 3.5. The restaurant was clean and new but rather awkwardly designed with tables way to close together and not much standing space. I ordered the Philly. It was okay but could have used a bit more meat to balance out the sweet tasting peppers and onions. Ben F ordered the Full Montague and enjoyed it. It had a nice amount of meat with a good ratio of sauce and veg. We both thought the bread was nicely toasted and far better than the bread at other sandwich shops.

I've been twice, and both experiences were sub-par. I'll give them one more shot, only because I received a free sandwich card after the hassle I dealt with today. I went with co-workers for lunch about 3 weeks ago. Granted they are a newly opened store and have kinks to work through (completely understandable), but at the same time I can hardly comprehend the point of having 8 or so people behind the counter making sandwiches. Too many cooks in the kitchen created chaos, and it took us nearly 15 minutes of waiting before we were out the door. The macaroni salad was bitter and unpleasant, and my Original was smushed flat and oozed sauce all over the sides of the bread, making it soggy before I had the chance to eat it. Today I ordered a wrap online for delivery to my office. 20 minutes past the projected delivery time I called to see what was up. Well, apparently my wrap was sitting on the counter, forgotten. The poor little guy. Anyways, the manager said she would have it delivered immediately and that it should arrive within 10 minutes. 25 minutes later, it was at my desk.....and I'm still hungry. One more shot, Earl of Sandwich! I really want to like this place, but seriously WTF.

I have to say the food is amazing. I had ordered the Italian the first time I was here, it was full of flavor and tasty! I would recommend for everyone! Plenty of seating, too. Bring your friends. But the cashier was very unwelcoming, and you can tell she does not want to be there. She did not give me my receipt both times I was here. My review would've been five stars but her service as the first person you see and talk to is unacceptable in the work place.

So glad to have this just up the street from my house!! Stopped in on Sat afternoon about 2:15pm and the place was bustling. They just opened and it is shiny and clean. The staff is excited to be there and they had plenty of smiling folks to help you. I sure hope it stays that way. I got the holiday on a bun with turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry and mayo. They are generous with all toppings and it is served hot. I also got the mac & cheese which I thought was just OK. It is very creamy, but it needed to be seasoned. Enjoy!

First time going there - I ordered the Chipotle Chicken sandwich and the Roasted Beef and Turkey sandwich. The food was very 'meh', sandwich size was small (5-6'') and the prices don't correlate with the quality of food. I would 100% go to Chipotle over this place anyday. Will not be returning.

For as flashy as this place looks, not that much better than a Quiznos. Definitely over hyped, and that's a shame. The variety really isn't that different than a subway. Affordable, but at what cost?

Very small portions. Not worth the money. Took longer for the sandwich to be made than it did for me to eat. I won't be going back. I recommend going to Firehouse, Westshore, Jersey Mike's, pretty much anywhere else would be a better choice. (I ordered a philly cheesesteak)

We both went with tuna sandwiches and they served us a very small sub with only tuna & cheese. Additional toppings were not offered. The bread was subpar and with chips and a drink, it set us back about $20. They took my order and money with a smile but that was about it. For the same price, there are far better local (and chain based shops ) within a 3 mile radius.

Food was blah! Small sandwiches, not much flavor in the turkey chili and the salad was small. Boo! I won't be back ever.

  • DM K.

I was very disappointed. The menu is vague. The portions are small for the price. The turkey is prepackaged luncheon meat with little flavor. The only mustard offered has mayo in it. I don't like mayo in my mustard. I don't like mayo. They don't offer pickles. Pickles and sandwiches kind of go together. I will not return. There are too many other choices in the area that offer good tasting high quality food and a pickle.

The 4th st special sandwich is good. Still wish they'd bring back the All American. It's off the menu at the Tampa location also.

I love Earl of Sandwich! They have the best ham and cheese. This location being new is a little slow but I am sure after a few months they will have the swing of things..

The food and style is great, but the long wait at lunch, and I arrived at 11:45, is ridiculous for business people.

After falling in love with the holiday sub at downtown Disney I was excited to hear that there was a closer Earl in Tampa and even more excited when I heard one was being built only a couple minutes away in St. Pete. I've been to this location twice now and have not been very satisfied with the sandwich and the experience. The new decor isn't appealing at all. I don't know who designed the interior, they may be going for a new look. The sandwiches seemed to take a bit longer to be prepared than the other two locations, and the lack of condiments on the tables irritated me a bit. Especially when the other locations have them on every table. The sandwich itself was okay, not as much ingredients/toppings it seemed. I hope they turn things around because it has potential to be great.

I look forward to thanksgiving just for the turkey, cranberry and stuffing sandwiches. At Earl of Sandwich I can get that sandwich now the rest of the year! I love, love, love the Holiday turkey sandwich, while my husband enjoyed the food he only complained of the size of the sandwich but for me, it's perfect!

My group had a variety of items there last night; sandwiches, soup, salads and a wrap. Everything tasted good but it seems they scrimp on ingredients and portion size. My pasta salad side (nothing special) consisted of about three small bites and added about $2.50 to the cost of my under-stuffed wrap. For less money you can get a much bigger, better, fresh salad at Wendy's, or anywhere, really. Sandwiches are tiny compared to other offerings found all over town, and they cost more. I'm not convinced the "artisan bread" gimmick will disguise the poor value received at the Earl for long.

We ate at the Earl when it first opened and we were not impressed. The sandwiches were small and the price was not. We went back for take out experience was confirmed just to make sure we had not chose poorly from the menu. We had not.

I visited this restaurant recently on a weekday, for lunch. The restaurant was fairly busy, not packed, but it seemed that the lunch crowd was just flowing in. Having never been there before, I was unfamiliar with the menu so was scanning the menu board trying to figure out what to order. This proved difficult, as the menu board itself has been hung at an odd angle, in such a way that it is very hard to see if you are standing in line waiting to order. You can't really see the entire menu board until you are basically at the register. But, as I quickly realized, this makes little difference if you are unfamiliar with the menu items, as it offers no descriptions whatsoever of the items listed. How am I to know what the Original 1762 sandwich is? There is a display case next to the registers that displays a large salad served in a nice ceramic bowl that looked pretty good, so I decided to go with a salad. There was a cobb salad listed on the menu and since all cobb salads tend to be pretty similar in nature, I went with that. I did ask if avocado came on the salad and was told that it did not, but could be added for $1 extra, which was fine. I paid for my food and was given one of those little coaster buzzers, which for such a small place seemed unnecessary. The dining area inside is very small, comprised of small two person tables that are very close together, almost uncomfortably close together. However, they do have outdoor seating on their patio, so I chose to sit outside as it was also very loud inside the restaurant. While sitting outside waiting for the buzzer to go off, I noticed that none of the tables had any umbrellas, even though it was the middle of the day and the sun was glaring overhead. Not a huge deal, but I did end up moving from the first table I sat at to another table so that my back was to the sun. It took about 15 minutes for my buzzer to go off. When I went to retrieve my food I was a little taken aback, as I was handed what seemed like a very small side salad sized salad in a to-go container, a small container of dressing, and another little container, the contents of which I did not know. I was confused as I was expecting a nice, large, entree sized salad in a nice ceramic bowl like the one in the display case in the front of the store. I thought maybe they had made some mistake, but as I watched other people pick up their food, I concluded that this was just how it is served. Confusion soon turned to overall disappointment when I returned to my table, opened my containers and saw the contents of the mystery container: A small, sad looking piece of avocado, skin still intact. I paid extra to have avocado ADDED TO my salad. How hard would it have been to scoop the flesh out of the peel? I supposed that is asking too much. I know this is just a counter service sandwich place, but some attention could have been given to the way that the product is presented to the customer. As I was eating, I noticed a few of the other customers complaining about their orders. I overheard one lady say that she had asked specific questions about the way her sandwich would be made and when she received her order, it was the opposite of what she was told. The taste of the salad was just ok. I didn't really care for the chicken that it was topped with. It's that precooked frozen stuff that you just microwave, so it was very moist, but not in a good way. I finished it fairly quickly, as it was very small, and left, still hungry and feeling ripped off. I will not be returning. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere. There are many better lunch options in the area.

This place is easily becoming the weekend lunch spot and is a great fall back when Red Mesa is too formal or too packed. I originally saw it in Downtown Disney in Anaheim and when I saw this establishment on 4th St I had to give it a shot. A few things first: this is a corporate establishment and any judgment about the interior is really a first-world problem. And for the less observant: the menus are in the queue line (just like at Chipotle). Feel free to take one and read it over while other people order their food. Finally, I see a lot of people are concerned about timing, so I'll tabulate mine as I visit: Date Ordered Promised Delivered 07/14 1:13 1:22 1:22 08/17 1:35 1:46 I've had 4 different sandwiches here now and I haven't found one I don't like. However the Mac n Cheese is good but not fantastic. If you need MnC they got it but I wouldn't rave about it. The meat is skimpy but is remedied by ordering double the meat (it was that easy). I know of a lot of places that do this so I'm not surprised. As a side note, food is a la carte so there's no "sandwich combo" but some people like that about Earl of Sandwich. I will rave about the triple chocolate brownie and other dessert items. They are so rich and sweet you'll want to make your sandwich a little smaller just to enjoy one of them afterward. A++ would eat again.

Don't really know where the rest of these reviews are coming from. I think it's because people think more is always better. Sure, you can go on down to the local Subway and get a foot long for five bucks that's on special but all your getting is the same amount of meat, a bunch of toppings and a huge amount of bread. The sandwiches at Earl of Sandwich are awesome. My girlfriend and I have tried the 4th Street Special, the Chipotle Chicken and the Original. The sandwiches are the perfect size for a meal and the meat is unbelievable. So tender and juicy. The 4th Street Special is out of this world and it seems they took the time to pair the ingredients with the meats for a great flavor combination. So head on down to the other places and get your foot long of regret and indigestion or give this great place a try and leave satisfied that it was money well spent.

Went there to get a sandwich for lunch last Friday. First of all, the prices aren't bad. A sandwich is a bit more than $6. Cheaper than Panera. Second of all, the person who took my order was very sweet and friendly. It was my first time there, so I asked her to recommend me something. She suggested the holiday turkey sandwich. It took a couple of minutes to prepare and it came out delicious! Yummy bread with turkey slices, cranberry sauce and stuffing all at once. Tasted just like thanksgiving dinner. It was very filling too. The only problem is I was in food coma after I was finished. Can't wait to go back again!

I had high hopes for this place however I left so disappointed. Upon arrival, you're met with posters showing their signature sandwiches, soups, wraps, and even pizzas. All looking delicious and piled high with fixings, however the final product turns out to be a flat "where's the beef" sandwich. My first choice off the menu was a traditional pastrami sandwich. Since I'm not being a fan of sauerkraut, I asked if I can swap it out with slaw, which they had on the menu. Their response was no because it comes pre-packaged. This should have been my first indication that this place is a "pre-package" shop rather then a "made fresh here" shop. There's two main parts that makes a sandwich, the bread and what's in between them. I finally decided on, The Original 1762, a roast beef and cheddar cheese sandwich. First, the bread, I noticed behind the counter several flats of half baked, "pre-packed" bread. As the ladies behind the counter were preparing the the sandwich for the oven, I notice them opening up the bread then throwing it in the trash. Maybe it was to doughy? Don't know. Second, the meat and cheese, both were far less then what's shown in the poster and by the time it makes its way through the gauntlet of oven fire, the cheese becomes un-noticeable. Half way through the sandwich, I became repulsed by the taste and texture of the bread. It was bland and doughy. I found myself eating around the bread salvaging what little meat there was inside which was ok. Needless to say, Earl of Sandwich did not live up to expectations. Especially when there is several options in close proximity that serve a far better product.

Extremely slow service. 15 minute wait for a salad? Portion size small for the price and I had several pieces of chicken that were grizzly and fatty. Also the to go bag is not designed for a salad. Couldn't sit flat in the bag. And the buzzer seems odd for a fast food place. And finally, an owner or manager was sitting int he dining area with papers spread out all over the table. Looked like she was doing accounting or bookkeeping in the middle of the restaurant in the middle of the lunch hour. Strange!

I ordered delivery from this location while at work. I liked the fact that they are place that delivers sandwiches and soups, etc. I ordered the chipotle chicken avocado SW and it was alright. The bread was pretty good but I didn't like the quality of the chicken that was used. I also ordered a side of pasta salad. It was amazing! 4 stars for the pasta salad and the fact that even at dinner hours delivery time was very decent. I'd order from here again for sure.

I went back after getting email from the pr people of Earl of Sandwich. They gave me a free sandwich coupon. I have to say again I was disappointed. The sandwich I had was the traditional 1767 or what ever .. It was gross. The sauce on it was over sweet and the meat was just gross. I'm never going back .. Earl of sandwich people don't email me please. I gave the other coupon to a homeless guy. I have to publicly apologize to the homeless gentleman .. Sorry bro you are taking one for the team.

My star rating is based on the food only, because it's a new restaurant they still have some bugs to work out, plus the restaurant was featured in the newspaper the day before, so they were busy at lunch time. First the food, I ordered the 1762 roast beef sandwich, and a "regular size" (which is really a large/bowl) of Chicken Tortilla soup To Go. If you go to their website, the sandwich looks quite impressive stacked high with roast beef. Don't believe what you see, what you will get is a flat unimpressive sandwich that's barely 6" long. Though the flavor was pretty good and the beef was a nice medium rare and tender but the cheese and horseradish sauce were pretty scarce. The bread was very good, but like I said it was pretty small and unimpressive overall for a $6.50 sandwich. The Chicken Tortilla soup was really good, though there were no tortillas in the soup and it was more a chowder consistency than soup. Very good flavor and a really nice spicy kick to it. Now my overall observation that has nothing to do with my rating: They were busy and had two cashiers working, and they kept the line moving along nicely. Though my cashier needed a little polish on how to answer questions. First the main menu doesn't have the soups available listed, I kept looking around and finally saw they had them on a small sign next to the register. They had 4 soups listed, but not the Chicken Tortilla, I asked the cashier if any other soups were available, and she said the Chicken Tortilla was available. This is where things kinda went south, the soup sign lists the sizes as REGULAR for $2.99 and LARGE for $3.99. I ordered a large and she said, "we don't have large, just small and regular size" when I told her that the sign right next to her lists them as regular and large, she says, "I don't know, I didn't make the sign". Wow, that wasn't the response I thought I'd get, but I let it go, she was probably 16 years old and this was her summer job. I paid $11.11 for a soup and sandwich to go with no drink, (kind of pricey) the receipt gives you an approximate time when your food is ready to pick up. My order came in under 2 minutes, so I waited for 7 minutes total, not to bad. Though it would be nice if there was a place to sit and wait without taking a table away from eat-in customers. The condiment and beverage area is kind of small, but what put me off is when you go to get napkins and utensils, have to reach over and stare straight down the big hole for the trash, not very pleasant to look at before you eat your lunch lol. I thought Earl of Sandwich would be a notch above other sandwich places like Subway, Jimmy Johns, etc, but it's right along the same quality as the others, but slightly higher in price. Oh and one other thought, if that sandwich conveyor oven ever breaks down, that restaurant will be dead in the water.

My husband and I went to EOS. This was our first time and the restaurant was clean and lots of light. The seating was plentiful but small. The prices are high compared to other sub restaurants in the area. The sandwiches were small for the price but they were good. We wish we had ordered combos but we try to watch the calories and just ordered the sandwiches. Big mistake because we were still hungry after we ate our sandwich.

We went last night - close enough to closing - 930, closed at 10 - that we got it to go, but not so close that I expected major problems. Soup - the problem with the soup was - they had none. I can understand that! It was 95 in August? Who wouldn't want soup? NO SOUP FOR YOU! I ordered a Philly cheesesteak. Asked if I could also have lettuce tomato and mayo. They looked at me like I was crazy. Ordered it in a pair (they call it something else, but called out "you pick two" which is a Panera term). My husband got exactly the same thing, except no mayo. Deer in the headlights time. Oh no, TWO crazy people making wild and crazy changes? Ordered a kids sandwich, which turned out to be a sandwich. No apple or yogurt or prize or crayons or yogurt. No chips with anything. No pickle. Seriously? No pickle? Looked over, and they are a Pepsi restaurant. Aren't you spoiled by the Coke Freestyle machines? I typically order water but that Freestyle machine has me buying a drink every time. An old Pepsi machine? Uh, no. Got my grandson a cookie. $1.99. Needs to sing songs for that. But I got it and let him have a little before our bag of food came. The restaurant was very lightly populated, so it should have been fast. Except that clearly they had already put everything away and had to get it out. Took forever. My grandson ate the whole cookie and then was not interested in the sandwich. I am not a "toasted" sandwich person. When asked, I say no. I want fresh bread - to me toasting is for when your bread isn't fresh. So I was disappointed when it came out charred and crispy. I looked inside the Teeny tiny sandwiches to make sure my husband got the one with no mayo. I couldn't find the mayo, possibly because I got distracted by the tomato. It was a slice, I swear, of cherry tomato. All cute and perky and TINY. And looked at my meat - a part of a slice (maybe 1/4) of steak-umm, looking raggedy around the edges. Double meat? A HALF of a steak-umm? No, I couldn't possibly. The Greek Salad had chicken on it (usually an extra) and bottled Italian dressing (wrong, just very wrong). Very small. Two adults who are usually happy sharing a meal. One three year old. No drinks. No chips. $22.00. Not enough food. Guess whose husband would not be back with a BOGO coupon? I see no reason to go back. For this much, you'll be taking food home from the PDQ.

The 4th Street Special is actually tasty but seems a bit skimpy in portion size for the price. The potato chip bags seem very small and they serve Pepsi, boo. The place is clean and inviting.

2 1/2 if that was an option. It was OK- not great or bad, just OK. I had the original roast beef combo. Better than subway and a little better than firehouse subs but I wasn't that impressed. I would eat there again but I won't be in a rush to go back.
